Welcome! Let me introduce myself….
I am Elisa, I am a quilt artist, mostly known in the quilting world for my curved templates and easy no pin sewing techniques. I never tire of showing people how to sew around my curved seams with ease and how to cut out your pieces very quickly. This allows for faster construction of quilts so that we can do, what else, but make more quilts.
Once the basics are established in the cutting and sewing department then we move on to more creative ways and options to use the templates. That is where the fun comes in. I like to do things that are different and look more complex than they really are, experimenting with the many fabric choices available.
My business and my passion (one of them) is designing. You will find my products on the Backporch Design webpage.
What you may not know about me is that I like to create one of a kind pieces or “art quilts” as they may get called. I love experimenting and playing with new techniques. I also paint, just watercolor at the moment, draw and plan to design fabric one day.
Some more things you might find interesting….
I am have Celiac or gluten intolerance and I hope to post some recipes that you might find tasty. Coconut flour is my flour of choice and some wonderful dishes can be made with it.
I lift weights and swing kettle bells – something you may hear more about in my blog.
I live in the mountains of Montana and I like to hunt. I know, very unfeminine of me, but I love being outdoors, hiking, learning about the local animals and plants. Recently my husband Don and I have taken up archery. It is something that we can do together as a couple and they have shoots or contests on weekends which will be fun to attend.
I love, love, love horses!
I enjoy being outdoors and any of the hobbies and activities that can get me out there. I get torn between going outside for a hike and working on quilt projects. If I can sew and work near a window then I am usually good. I may have to create the first outdoor quilting room.
Oh yes, and my grand babies. They are the best! We are so blessed to have them, I need some more of them. We have three grown children that can produce away at will if they desire.
I hope this blog will inspire you to be creative and learn something new. And mostly to enjoy the gift of life that is give to us.
Me and my main man.
