I have so MANY, MANY things that I like to do. Just ask my husband :-) .

I tend to create lists upon lists and I dream up even more things in my sleep. I like to be busy.

But I also like things calm and organized.

I usually go like a whirlwind and then when I can’t focus anymore I have to stop and reorganize.

So that brings me to these.

These are beautiful batik swatches.

In the fabric world these are considered “old”.

But they are not, they are timeless and absolutely gorgeous!

But because 95.5% of the sewing that I do is for my business, I don’t have a lot of time to make things for personal use.

Meaning that if I make a quilt I need to make a pattern and that pattern will be sold to shops and the shop owners will want to know which fabric to order and they won’t be able to order the fabric and there you go.

I have a whole bunch of “current” swatches that I must choose from for my current projects.

And these are so lovely they need a home.

I decided that one of you must own them and use them and love them.

As I looked through them I am tempted to keep some of them back for myself. I thought that I could cut 10″ square from each of them and use my new SMUP ruler. That would be a plan. A good one.

But remember, I have lists upon lists of things to do. Sigh.

AND I am getting fabric this week for a quilt that must be completed BEFORE Christmas.

I will be giving these away to one of you lucky commenters.

Just leave a comment and maybe even mention what you might do with it.
Frame it, give to a charity, make a scrap quilt, add to stash, make hair ribbons, a doggy bed??

The drawing will be random and not based upon your plans, I’m just curious. And one more thing, unfortunately, because of the weight of this, I will only be able to ship this to somebody in the US.

Good luck! Drawing on Saturday sometime so that the winner receives this by Christmas.

I would likely make small purses–walkabout bags. Or other small projects. But I am also assembling fabrics that will go to the women in Iraq in the spring and some for little dresses to go to Africa in that same time frame.

Batiks have long been a favorite. I am eager to do some landscape representations with fabric and batiks are often painterly enough for that!

  11. OOOOO beautiful batiks! Doggy blanket? NO WAY! Those have to be used by someone who will appreciate and love them… ME !!!

I would LOVE to have these and make MYSELF a beautiful scrappy batik quilt for my OWN bed … I never have made myself a quilt… everything I make I give away, except for a couple cute chicken wall hangings… SEW I would LOVE to SEW for myself!

  12. SewCalGal says:

Beautiful fabric swatches. I’d certainly have fun making a purse with them, but I also think I could use these in a tropical theme wallhanging I’m collecting fabrics for.

  17. CarlaSue says:

Those are beautimous! I wonder what a batik Dresden would look like? Anything made with those would be awesome.

  18. Barbara says:

First I’d pet them for a while. Then I’d put them in my stash with the other batiks until I think of the perfect project for them. I’m sure I had a batik project idea in the not too far distant past but it has escaped. It will come back to me one of these days. Actually, I do have a batik project that has fabrics cut and could probably benfit from some lighter colors.

  19. Leslie says:

    Take care, Leslie

I’ve rearranged and rearranged and will begin putting the blocks together today at my stitch-in.

Aren’t you the sweetest person for sharing. I love samples, and I love batiks – my favorites. How would I use them? Well, I love to do applique and samples are great to use for that; also they would be used in miscellaneous blocks for charity quilts; and some would be set aside to use in a New York Beauty quilt that is on my ‘to do’ list. I know NYB’s are not on the fore front of quilting these days, but I love them and still want to make one, so I have been collecting batiks to use.
