Fan Dance I.

Isn’t it beautiful!

It is hard to see but this quilt uses the 8″ Rainbow block template.

The fan wedges are foundation pieced with only 4 pieces in each fan.

Two of the pieces on the foundation fan are black like the background fabric so it gives the illusion that you are sewing a point.

Once the 3 fan pieces are sewn together the Rainbow template shapes are used to cut out the arc and the background L shape.

Go to my patterns page to find this pattern.

  1. Hi Elisa!

Love, love, love this quilt, it’s just awesome!!

I have a friend that made this & has asked me to machine quilt it.

I have been a Professional long arm quilter for a very long time, but this one has me a bit perplexed for the quilting! :)

Can you offer ideas or tips?

    Thanks sew very much!

I made this quilt with fabric my husband picked out. It is bright and beautiful. We have it on our bed. I also made Fan Dance 2 with bright pink and orange flowers and solids. It has a black background….just lovely. I am now making “Orient Express” in your “Crazy Curves Continues”. I found a couple of mistakes in the pattern as I see it. I cut the one yard fabric for template A as suggested on page 5 and could only get 4 strips, thus only 32 shape A. I didn’t have enough fabric so I think you need to increase the amount in your next edition. Also from the sashing fabric you need to have 17 strips not 5 to make 84 rectangles. I love the book other than that. I plan to make other projects from the book. Thank for the patterns. Sincerely, Carla Zimmerman
