This is the final layout of the blocks after a few adjustments.

Please help me give a name to this quilt top. I completely forgot about it. Any suggestions?

This is block one.

It is exactly the same as block two but the light and dark are reversed.

The complete quilt top……

I can’t just call it 6 inch template quilt…….Do you have any ideas?

Do you see why I can’t seem to get any work done around here? I just couldn’t resist having a little bit of fun in the snow.

I am not sure the long walk back up the hill is worth the short ride down the hill.

We don’t have a “real” sled but this works. Goldie decided that she wanted to go for a ride with me.

This is the view of us both looking down the hill. She looks ready to go.

snow-day-3.jpg

This is after she decided to jump out half way down the hill and give us both a spill on the snow.

Quilt top will be done tomorrow, I promise.

I got a little distracted with Christmas and didn’t get around to drawing a name for the quilt layout question.

But…… drum roll please……
I numbered each entry and wrote down each number on a piece of paper and put them all in a bowl and had my husband pick one of the numbers. That way you can blame or thank him.

Ronna is the winner. Ronna said
I like 1 and 3 best. On number 1 I would like to see the two versions (cross and circle) alternate or be scrambled not all 3 cross to the left and circles to the right.

Please email me with your mailing address and I will have a box of goodies out to you before the years end.

Thanks for participating. It was fun to read your suggestions and comments. Sometimes I only have my husband to ask for an opinion and he usually just says “thats nice dear”……. what does that mean??? nice???
You gotta love em.

I will now stop procrastinating and go sew those blocks together. I will show you the results soon. Stay tuned.

But first, just a bit more chocolate from Mr. Snowman………choc-snowman.jpg

wood-sculpture.jpg

Is that the coolest picture or what?
I stumbled across this very creative web site.
Take a peek. http://www.alastairheseltine.com/index.htm

When you go to his web page be sure to click on the pictures on the left because they open up to even more nifty stuff. See if you can find the wheel barrel.

Very inspirational!

If you are wondering how in the world I found this site, well I was supposed to be working, but I got distracted. (only slightly)

We are thinking of adding a wood stove in our house to keep from freezing. Did I mention it is only a -8 today? Yes that is a negative.

We can just continue to use the electrical baseboard heaters to warm the house and then all of the electrical companies kids can be assured of going to to college or we can buy a wood stove.

So,…..I was doing a search for wood stove reviews and got very distracted.

This was my original plan for the quilt blocks.
Number one.
layout-one.jpg
Notice my incomplete border using the half circles. By using the blocks for the border the quilt is rectangular.I played with blocks. Or maybe I should say I re-arranged the blocks??
to this….
Number two.
layout-two.jpg
I wasn’t sure about that so moved the blocks again to this layout. Notice I am now short about 8 blocks. Just ignore that part.
Number three.
layout-three.jpg
And last but not least this traditional layout, alternating the dark and light.
Number four.
layout-four.jpg

Don’t tune out yet, the best is yet to come…….So here is the deal, tell me which layout appeals to you the most. Some guidelines to help you decide, this quilt, when completed, will possibly get its picture taken and go on the cover of the new 6″ template (available sometime in January).

It needs to have
1. mass appeal (you like it a lot)
and
2. photograph well. (look good on the cover).

The Best Part!
And to tempt your big quilting heart I am offering a goodie bag to be filled with scraps (lots of usable, mostly batik), charm packs, layer cakes, my Sew Easy Tweezers and whatever else I decide to put in there.
If you like to quilt and fondle fabric you will want this box!
I will draw from the list of responses to see who wins. I think you might be distracted with Christmas activities so I have extended the voting time.

Tell your friends, tell your mother, tell your brother. But only vote once. (please!)

Small print – sorry but I will only be able to ship goodie box to the US. But you can still vote.
