This blog is supposed to be about quilting. Well, there hasn’t been much of that going on lately. Yes, I think of it every day. But then I have the business side of things to take care of; getting my taxes in order, updating brochures, re-printing patterns, and all of the other organizational duties that have nothing to do with quilting but help keep my business running. I had to reconcile 10 months of credit card statements. Ughh!!! The torture my CPA puts me through.
Quilt in Progress
I do have a quilt on my design board of a barn. Not just any barn but the barn that was on my grandmother’s farm. My grandmother does not own the farm anymore but lives right next door a few acres away so she can still see the cows. When she and my grandfather owned the farm they had dairy cows. I fondly remember all of the black and white cows. I also remember how busy they were having to milk the cows twice a day.
Now the gentleman who owns it has beef cattle. He was kind enough to show us around the place and let us take a few pictures. My grandparent’s house, the one that I remember as being HUGE was really not that big at all. It seems to have shrunk. But the barn didn’t shrink, it was as big as ever.
Here are some of the cows. Cute! I have a thing for cows, I must have gotten it from my grandmother. She named each and every cow they had on their farm. That is her white trailer in the background.

Here is a picture of the barn. I hope to have photos of the quilt when it is completed. I took some liberties in my quilt to move the silo back to its original location.

We also drove to the house down the road that I lived in for a little while as a small girl. I was very surprised to see how it looks now!

I get inspiration in the craziest places. My husband should be used to it by now. We will be doing some simple thing and then I say, “Isn’t that cool! quick take a picture”.

It shouldn’t be too hard for you to figure out what this is but I thought it looked so awesome I took half a dozen pictures. Strange I know.

My youngest daughter now has a new last name and we have a new son in law.
The wedding was incredibly beautiful! It was an outdoor wedding, a very risky thing to do the end of September, but the scenery was spectacular. We are so blessed that both of our daughters have chosen such wonderful men to be their husbands.

After a whirl wind of getting ready, then the actual wedding and then all of the company and getting things back in order – I am exhausted! I think the parents of the bride need an extended honeymoon themselves. I will have to work on making that happen.

I do have some new patterns that will be up on the website soon. How soon? Well lets say in the next few weeks. I’m still trying to catch up with everything.
