Over the weekend, I hiked up behind my house – “behind my house” is 3 zillion acres of wilderness – and I went to this ridge trail. This picture was taken as I was at the top and as you can see the sun was quickly setting. I had a long way to hike down before dark.

I didn’t make it.

I had to hike the last two miles in the dark. I did have the foresight to bring a flashlight and I had two dogs with me. If I didn’t have my flashlight I would have sat down and sucked my thumb and waited for the calvary to rescue me. But I made it. Isn’t it beautiful!

Some day I will get a nice camera. I only posses a point and shoot and it is hard to take landscape shots, but you can get some idea of the beautiful colors.

Here is another shot. Wow! Awesome colors.

Then, watched the kiddos. Addison is now walking.

Walking, walking everywhere!

It was hard trying to capture her on film because she wouldn’t hold still long enough. Take a look at that smile. (and that tummy!)

Of course, Zachary wanted me to take a picture of him “walking”. He didn’t want to miss out on any of the attention.

They are so much fun but I think I need a nap now. zzzz

See that rock on the lower left corner on the ground, that is the “door” to the house. Gosh I just love the creativity and imagination.

No house is complete without a sprinkling of sawdust.

On another note, I have been wanting to share some of the quilts that were done by some other designers using my SMUP ruler.
This little gem was done by Peggy Welchert in Kentucky.

This little quilt top measures 12″ x 15″. It was made with charm pack (5″ squares) fabric and my SMUP ruler. If you watched the SMUP video part 2 you might have seen a glimpse of this quilt top in the video.

Peggy wrote that as she was working on the project, things got busy and she was not able to put on the borders. I love this little tree and I hope to get it finished.

Peggy’s comments about the ruler:
“I really enjoyed working with the Square Me Up ruler. It is a unique way to use all of a 5″ square or a 10″ square of fabric to make multiple half square triangles at the same time with minimal marking and no paper to rip off.
I only used 5″ squares of fabric. I did find that a soft pencil, like a chalk pencil, is best to use as directed”

She also made some additional comments on things that she would like to see in the ruler, like adding more lines and we made most of the changes that were suggested to us before producing our final ruler.

I really appreciate the time she took to experiment with the ruler. I will be sharing the comments and project of some other designers who played with the ruler for me during my crunch time right before market.
