I lost a day somewhere. Funny how regulated I am to what I do depending on what day of the week it is.
I called up my chiropractor to make an appointment on Tuesday. They could only fit me in if I made it before 11. What? I need to come in now, doesn’t he know that? Uh, today is Tuesday and he is always there a half day on Tuesday. Me – Oh sorry, I thought it was Monday.
And so my week has gone. I have tried to compensate by adding another day and now I think it is Thursday. I’m so confused.

Over the weekend, I hiked up behind my house – “behind my house” is 3 zillion acres of wilderness – and I went to this ridge trail. This picture was taken as I was at the top and as you can see the sun was quickly setting. I had a long way to hike down before dark.

I didn’t make it.

I had to hike the last two miles in the dark. I did have the foresight to bring a flashlight and I had two dogs with me. If I didn’t have my flashlight I would have sat down and sucked my thumb and waited for the calvary to rescue me. But I made it. Isn’t it beautiful!

Some day I will get a nice camera. I only posses a point and shoot and it is hard to take landscape shots, but you can get some idea of the beautiful colors.

Here is another shot. Wow! Awesome colors.

Then, watched the kiddos. Addison is now walking.

Walking, walking everywhere!

It was hard trying to capture her on film because she wouldn’t hold still long enough. Take a look at that smile. (and that tummy!)

Of course, Zachary wanted me to take a picture of him “walking”. He didn’t want to miss out on any of the attention.

They are so much fun but I think I need a nap now. zzzz

Earlier this month my husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe we have been married for that long because I am only 29 years old. Or is it 39. Or maybe… maybe age is just a number so who really cares right???

I read this recently…
Life is fun and needs to be shared with our best friend, playmate and lover. This then is the rule of life for wives; Live with thanksgiving, forgiveness and joy and enjoy all your moments as if they were your last. Someday, soon enough, they will be.

I really like that as a reminder not to get bogged down the day to day struggles and frustrations.

Anniversary day.
I like to say I am an easy date. Take me hiking in the wilderness and I am a happy camper. Really.

So we went to this trail, it is near Glacier park. The boundaries of the park are on one side of the highway and we were on the other, so we were just outside of the park. This area does not get very many hikers. This is one way of saying we were the only ones there.

After you hike in about a mile you begin to see these.

You can see a little reflector on the tree, to mark the tree, and then a few strands of wire wrapping around on the left side of the tree, kind of like barbed wire.

Then if you look closer at the wire you will see this.

That is grizzly bear hair.
Now tell me, if you were hiking near Glacier Park, no other hikers around, in a remote part of the forest, and you saw this, would you begin to squirm a little in your hiking boots? I sure did. It is a bit of a creepy feeling knowing that a big bear had been scratching himself on this tree that I am now standing next to.

The reason for the wire is, it is posted in certain sections of forest where the grizzly bear is known to roam, the bears scratch against the wires and it collects a bit of their hair. Different people are assigned to go collect the hair and then they do DNA testing on the bear hair to help them determine the population and other things of interest about the bears.

Standing there looking at the tree I began to wonder how they knew where to put the wire, on which trees? It turns out that the bears are already going around and scratching the trees with their backs and their claws to mark their territory. So the park rangers look for the trees that the bears have already marked.

Like this one. The wire is on the other side.

Do you see those claw marks? Yes a big bear did that with his claws. Now if that doesn’t give you the creepies I don’t know what will.

Here Don has put his hand next to the scratch marks to reference the size.

We continued on our hike for about 10 miles round trip and we saw about a dozen of these trees with hair and various scratches.

Fortunately, for us we made it back down and at the end of the hike we had this view. This would be looking towards Glacier.

I hope you have enjoyed this little venture into bear world.

Safety Notice – The bears are not generally interested in people and we take all of the recommended bear safety precautions while hiking.

I am a newbie to Facebook.
I like Facebook because I can post quick little blurbs and quickly add photos of completed quilts. You can also add a photo of your very own quilt that you have finished.

The content and photos are building up on my page. If you haven’t been there, go take a peek.

Here’s the deal. I would like to invite you to join me as I expand into cyberspace.

1. I will be having one weekly drawing, each Sunday, for a prize. The prize will be a pattern or a template or maybe even fabric.

2. This week the prize will be for my new bag pattern, Big Curvy Bag. Of course you will need the 6″ templates to go with it, so that is included.
Do I see some excitement building?

3. Then… drum roll please… the grand prize drawing will be on or around September 17. I will then be giving away $100 in free merchandise from my web store.
You heard that right. $100 smackers of my product, to use, to give, to share.

4. To be entered into the drawing, just look to the right column and click the pink box with the f inside it. This will take you to my facebook page. Once you are there, click the “like” button.

That is all you have to do.

Stuff to know
- You only have to “like” one time.
- You will be entered in the drawing each and every week.
- You will also be entered into the drawing for the grand prize.
- Current “like” people are already entered, so invite your friends.

And the last little detail, the date for the grand prize drawing will be determined by the birth of my third grand baby. Due date is September 17.

Remember these guys? Two years ago they tied the knot.
First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes mommy pushing the baby carriage!
I have no idea how my baby can be having a baby. Bitter sweet tears of joy here.

One drawing a week, to be held each Sunday until the big delivery day. (happy sobbing here)

This is my little sweetie!

We are playing outside on my deck and she loves to sit in this chair.

When we have Zachary and Addison, we play trains and go for walks and make our special “ice cream”. We always have ice cream at Na na and Pa pa’s house.

Here is Addison in all of her sweetness, sucking her two middle fingers and fast asleep on pa-pa’s lap.

It is hard to imagine how two little ones can wear out two adults and leave the house in total disarray.

Oh but we wouldn’t miss a second of it for the world!

I would like you to meet a friend of mine.

This is Ellen Lumpkin Brown. Well, she isn’t exactly a new friend, but she might be new to you. We recently had a chance to get better acquainted.

Ellen makes the most amazing dolls. I am not a doll maker and I greatly admire anybody who has that kind of patience.

These dolls are hip and cool and have the latest styles in clothes and hair. Ellen looks around for the perfect yarn that will look good on a dolls head and become realistic looking hair. I was impressed!

In fact I had a dream one night that my baby granddaughter, Addison, had this long, beautiful, braided, dark, yarn hair. The dream is particularly funny if you know that Addison is just a few months old and has about as much hair as a peach and about the same color. Somehow in my sleep I combined the baby with the yarn hair.

This is Ellen and me in Orlando. She is the pretty one on the left.

Oh my, what that Florida humidity did to my hair!

You can check out all of Ellen’s dolls and her book Doll Fashionistas on her website, The Doll Loft.

She is super sweet and I look forward to the next time we can hang out together.

I also did a tiny bit of filming for Quilters TV.

The new stuff that I filmed in Orlando is not up on the Quilter’s TV site yet, but there is an interview that I did with Ellen that sometimes plays on the Quilters Tv site. It is so interesting to watch yourself on film and realize how dorky you talk. All is good though and it was a lot of fun.

Here I am getting ready on the set.

I hope to do more filming soon. Hey camera guy, I’m ready to do more. I’m out here in the boonies but I am ready for more.
Ready when you are. :-)
