I am excited to share with you a quilt pattern that I did for Hoffman California fabrics.

They featured this quilt in full page magazine advertisement. How cool is that!!!!!!!!!

Here is a sneak peak.

It is called Bali Kaleidoscope.

This is the one that I was working on into the wee hours of the night just before my trip to Philadelphia back in December.
Do you remember that? I sure do.

And the best part is that this is another free pattern offered by Hoffman California fabrics. This is one of my favorite quilts, the fabrics are spectacular. I think these fabrics are just coming out into shops so be on the lookout for them.

There is a lot of good stuff on their website so go take a peek.

Its cold outside so why not go quilt.

Let me know what you think.

PS I decided to share the whole ad with you. It is so pretty and I don’t want you to miss it.

Here it is!

Debbie emailed me many moons ago showing me the quilt that she made using my templates. At that time I was putting together my “new” book and I asked her if she wanted to be included. It was many emails later, then a major house remodel, a marriage (not mine), a baby (not mine), and a far away move to Montana, and a few years later before the “new” book was even thought about again.
I never did get to include Debbie’s beautiful quilt in the book but I did save the email. I was looking through my files and found it and decided that I would post photos of Debbie’s beautiful quilt and her comments.
I hope you enjoy this quilt as much as I do!

Dear Elisa Wilson,

I purchased your book “Crazy Curves” and a set of templates at a quilt show at Big Sky, Montana in the summer of 2004. You know how it is, you see a quilt in person and are inspired to create one of your own. I had a lot of batiks in my stash and a vague idea of what I wanted my quilt to look like. I always think big and needed a new queen size quilt for a guest bedroom.

I got the pieces all cut out and started sewing the blocks together then laying them out on the basement floor. Of course, I am never quite satisfied with the outcome, so I took some apart and rearranged the pieces many times before I got everything “just right”. I had a few blocks that just didn’t work to my satisfaction so they became the outer border.

I just wanted to share the finished product with you. I plan on making a lap size next and giving it as a gift to my brother and his wife. I will send you a photo of it as well when I am finished.

Sincerely,
Debbie Blome

I, Debbie Blome, from Heath, Texas, am the maker of the quilt. I started the quilt in 2005 while we were still living in Castle Rock, Colorado. I finished the quilt in 2006, after we moved to Texas.

The name of the quilt is “Crazy Curves from the Crail Ranch”. I think I already told you that I purchased your book and templates at a quilt show at the Crail Ranch in Big Sky, Montana.

The name of the quilter is Janet Gibson-Korytkowski. She lives in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Debbie

I really love that label Debbie. And the backing – yummy!

I also did a search on the Crail Ranch right here in Montana. I LOVE history and I loved reading about the Crail family. I have to put his on my calendar as a must see next summer.

I have had this quilt hanging on my wall above my bed for awhile. It is from one of my earlier patterns called Illusions.

My bed is made from cedar and the headboard has an irregular shape. If I put something above the headboard it always looks like it isn’t level. Even though it is. If I lower it below the top of the headboard, then it doesn’t look like it is hanging crooked.
Something just wasn’t right with the quilt hanging down behind the headboard, but I was too lazy to change it.

I finally got around to hanging this quilt.

This quilt is called Fall and it is the first quilt that I have entered into a juried show. It was shown in an AQS show in Knoxville, Tennessee. I was excited to have it accepted.

I got it back a few months ago and finally got around to putting it up.

Hmmm, not sure how I like it there. But it will be awhile before I make another change.
Other than the scary lighting on the photographs, tell me what you think. The wall color hasn’t changed but the first one was taken earlier in the morning, the second one was taken with more sunlight coming into the side window. I have a lot to learn about lighting.

I hope that you are enjoying the new videos showing how to use the SMUP ruler. Square Me Up Ruler that is.

Earlier this year Kerry from New Zealand sent me some of her batik fabric. I used the SMUP ruler to make this quilt. I just love it. Love batiks! I showed it briefly in the second video but I wanted to give you a better look at it.

I used eight different fabrics. 1/3 yard of each.
Cut four 10″ squares from each.
Follow the instructions for the SMUP ruler.
I paired up the same colors of 10″ squares for each. My result was 40 of each half square triangles (HST).
You could also mix and match the 10″ squares. I did have some of my HST left over.
I hope you enjoy it.

I couldn’t wait to share with you this beautiful quilt.

It is my Fan Dance pattern but the color choices are spectacular.

This quilt was made by Mary Chin.

The color choices make the fans pop off of the quilt so that it looks 3-D. The quilt actually uses paper piecing to make the fans and then my 8″ Rainbow template to cut out the rest.

Here is a picture of the quilt after it has been quilted and bound.

I love it!

Thanks Mary for sharing.
